directed by Peter H. Hunt. The screenplay by Peter Stone was based on his book for the 1969 Broadway musical of the same name. The song score was composed by Sherman Edwards. Hunt was born in Pasadena, California, the son of Gertrude (née Orphüls) and George Smith Hunt II, a Minnesota-born industrial designer. Hunt began his career as a lighting designer at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 1958. He became an Artistic Director in 1989, a post he held until 1995. In 1969, he helmed the Broadway musical 1776, winning the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for his efforts.

FORMAT:

1776 is a 1972 American musical film. The film is portrayed in black and white television. It uses drama as a major aspect of enticing the viewers in watching the series. The movie starts when General George Washington is conducting the struggle against the British Empire on the battlefield, the Continental Congress in Philadelphia piddles away its time over trivial matters and continually refuses to begin debating the question of American independence

AUDIENCE:

The target audience are the American people. They reacted accordingly to what the film wanted them to react; with action. It changed the lives of the audience through the depth of the message of the film.

CONTENT:

The world is making new discoveries and because of this new media are formed and beginning. This is important because, the discovery of new media has led to a series of remarkable milestones, such as the Apollo moon landing. The 1776 musical television show is a fresh sight during 70s. PURPOSE:

Profit is very evident because firstly, The musical aims to generate income as they broadcast their show nationwide, secondly, for without profit they cannot operate and improve their screenplay. Power is barely seen because it seeks to entertain rather to spread awareness and influence.
